• History: Whitney Moore Young (1921-1971) was an African-American civil rights activist. As the executive director of the National Urban League and the President of the National Association of Social Works, he fought to end racial bias in hiring, to continue the War on Poverty, and to bring an end to the Vietnam War. This stamp sheet was issued in honor of Black History Month, held every Feburary in the United States.
