This Arkansas Centennial Half Dollar was designed by Edward Everett Burr and was struck in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the admission of Arkansas into the Union. There were only 85,302 of these Arkansas Centennial Commemorative Silver Half Dollar Coins minted at the Philadelphia, Denver ,and San Francisco Mints from 1935 through 1939, making it of great worth and value to the commemorative coin collector. The obverse of the Arkansas Centennial Half Dollar features an eagle perched upon a rising sun holding a banner inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST at left and E PLURIBUS UNUM at right. The reverse of the Arkansas Centennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar shows heads of an Indian Chief of 1836 and an American Girl of 1936.
