History: This stamp sheet commemorates the 100th anniversary of Wyoming statehood. Despite being the tenth largest state by area, it is the least populous, making Wyoming a state famous for its wide open spaces and natural beauty. Wyoming was originally home to various indigenous peoples such as the Crow, Arapaho, Lakota, and Shoshone before being conquered by the Spanish Empire, later becoming part of the newly formed Mexico. Mexico ceded control of Wyoming to the United States after its defeat in the Mexican-American War in 1848. Today, Wyoming is a popular destination for nature-seeking tourists, with sights such as the National Parks of Yellowstone and Grand Teton continuing to amaze and captivate.
