• History: The American artist Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986), sometimes described as the "Mother of American modernism," was famous for her paintings of flowers, the New York skyline, and landscapes of New Mexico. Her 1932 painting Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 sold in 2014 for $44,405,000, breaking the world record for the highest amount paid at auction for a female artist. The stamps in this sheet contain a reproduction of her 1927 work Red Poppy.
