• History:  This stamp was issued to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Florida becoming a state.  The stamp was designed by Laura Smith of Hollywood, California.  The image is of an alligator, one of the most recognizable symbols for Florida.  On the stamp is also the date 1845, the year Florida was welcomed into the Union. This was the first 32 cent US postage stamp issued after the rate increase.
