- History: Some of the most beautiful birds in the world are found in the tropics. The Antillean Euphonia is a bird found on the islands in the Caribbean. A member of the finch family, they are known for their blue top and yellow bottom. The Green-Throated Carib is a member of the hummingbird family. They are mostly found in the degraded former forests of the Caribbean. Found in the wet forests of Hawaii, the Crested Honeycreeper has been protected under the Federal Endangered Species Act since 1967. Named for its scarlet color, the Cardinal Honeyeater can be found on the islands of the South Pacific. Their main habitats are the tropical lowland forests where flowers and gardens are typically found.
