• History: Regarded as a cultural icon Humphrey Bogart (December 25, 1899 - January 14, 1957)  began acting in 1921. Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon are two of his most popular rolls.  Bogart was a founding member of the infamous Rat Pack, which featured major stars Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop.  Bogart was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Actor.  He won the award in 1951 for his role in The African Queen.  In 1999, Bogart was named the greatest male star in the history of American Cinema by the American Film Institute.
