This 50th Anniversary Kennedy Set includes four Kennedy Half Dollars struck in 90% silver, each in a different finish, from each different U.S. Mint location. This commemorative set was designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy Half Dollar. The Kennedy Half Dollar was first released in 1964 to honor the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The packaging is designed to be a display or storage and protection. Each of the four coins is protected by a clear plastic capsule which rests in the coin wells within the packaging.

The coins included in this set are:

• 2014-W in RP DCAM (Deep Cameo)
  • One reverse proof coin from the West Point Mint.
• 2014-P in PR DCAM (Deep Cameo)
  • One proof coin from the Philadelphia Mint.
• 2014-S in EU
  • One enhanced uncirculated coin from the San Francisco Mint. This minting process makes use of a special wire brush technique as well as a laser frosting treatment and a laser polishing technique to enhance and accentuate portions of the design.
• 2014-D in SP
  • One uncirculated coin from the Denver Mint in a special matte finish.
• The original government issued packaging (OGP)
  • A rich, embossed faux leather folder with the original Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and a booklet about the development and design of the Kennedy Half Dollar.

The designs on the coins replicate the portrait on the 1964 design:

• Obverse:
  The design shows a portrait of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the youngest person ever elected to the office. U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Gilroy Roberts based this profile on a portrait prepared for Kennedy's presidential medal. Roberts created his original 1964 design shortly after Kennedy's assassination.
• Reverse:
  The design is based on the Presidential Seal and was done by U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Frank Gasparro. It consists of a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast, holding a symbolic olive branch and a bundle of 13 arrows. A ring of 50 stars surrounds the design, which gives this coin the distinction of having more stars than any other United States coin ever produced for circulation.

Each of the Kennedy Half Dollars in this set is composed of .900 (90%) silver and .100 (10%) copper with a diameter of 30.6mm and a mass of 12.5 grams.
