History: An American composer, Mancini (April 16, 1924 - June 14, 1994) was best known for the theme song to The Pink Panther film series. He is also known for the theme song for the Peter Gunn television series which lead him to his first ever Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1959. In 1942, he attended Julliard School of Music, but only lasted a year. Mancini was drafted into the United States Army where he was part of the liberation of a concentration camp in southern Germany. After returning to the United States in 1946, Mancini began his music career. He would earn 72 nominations for Grammy's, winning 20, and won four out of the 18 Academy Awards he was nominated for.
