History: Best known for his children's books such as Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat, in which he used anapestic meter, a rhyming form of poetry that emphasizes the melodic feel of the meter. Sometimes spending up to a year on his works, Seuss was a perfectionist, and unlike many other writers, he refused to be paid until after his work was complete. Many of his books have been turned into feature films, which have been adored by children and adults for decades.
