History: Born Archibald Alexander Leach, Cary Grant (January 18, 1904 - November 29, 1986) was born in Bristol, England, and appeared in over seventy Hollywood films. Although he was nominated for two Academy Awards and five Golden Globe Awards, he never won until he was presented an Honorary Oscar by Frank Sinatra in 1970. Known for his good looks and suave attitude, Grant was considered by many one of the greatest male actors of all time. When his daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1966, Grant retired from acting to focus on raising her, although he did remain active with live performances. On November 29, 1986 while preparing for a performance in Davenport, Iowa, he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died later that night. He was 82.
