History: Born Andrew Warhola (August 6, 1928 - February 22, 1987) in Pittsburgh, PA, he was an American artist and leading figure in the art form known as "pop art." His hometown house, The Andy Warhol Museum, is the largest museum in the country devoted to a single artist. Coining the phrase, "15 minutes of fame," Warhol was the subject of many exhibitions, books and films. His 1963 painting, Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster) sold for $105 million in 2013. It was the last painting left in private hands.
