History: Arguably the most well known comic strip in the United States, Peanuts ran from October 2, 1950 until February 13, 2000. Charles M. Schulz published almost 19,000 strips in that time. With characters like Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy and Peppermint Patty the comic strip was the basis for several television specials. A Charlie Brown Christmas won an Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program (1966). Charlie Brown, Peanut's main character, is the only character that shows up in both the first and last comic strip. Today, reruns of peanuts are still seen in newspapers around the world.
