• History: Henry Fonda (May 16, 1905 - August 12, 1982) was an award winning American film and stage actor.  Making his Hollywood debut in 1935, Fonda appeared in over 100 films, television programs, and shorts.  The patriarch of a family of actors, Hank, as his close friends called him, was name the sixth Greatest Male Star of All Time by the American Film Institute. He earned his only Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, On Golden Pond (1981). He also, earned a Tony award for the Broadway production Mister Roberts (1948).   Fonda died of heart disease at his Los Angeles home on August 12th, 1982 at the age of 77.
