History: Born in a small town in Illinois, Ronald Reagan (February 6, 1911 - June 5, 2004) was the United States 40th president, and served from 1981-1989. He was also California's 33rd Governor from 1967-1975, but began his career as an actor in films and television. During his first term in office, he survived an assassination attempt and escalated the war on drugs, but his biggest accomplishment came during his second term when he brought an end to the Cold War, and helped bring down the Soviet Union. on June 5, 2004, at the age of 93, Reagan died of pneumonia, complicated by his ten year battle with Alzheimer's disease at his home in Bel Air, California. He is still thought of today as one of the most influential presidents in United States history due to his many foreign policy triumphs.
