• History: The Hawaii stamp sheet commemorates the 50th Anniversary of Hawaii's admission to the Union. Hawaii is the newest addition to the United States of America. It was officially declared a state on August 21st, 1959. One-third of the world's commercial pineapples come from Hawaii and it is also the only state in the U.S. where coffee is grown. With countless public beaches, a warm tropical climate and numerous active volcanoes, Hawaii has always been a very popular place for tourism. The stamp depicts some people enjoying the waves of Hawaii with a Malia (Hawaiian canoe) and surf board.
