All of these coins are in the original smaller PCGS holders (known as 1st Generation Holders). These holders have become very difficult to locate and the coins in these holders are usually considered to be conservatively graded. These coins are premium quality for their grade. Some of the coins may have light toning or oxidation. There were only 378,200 of these Proof Franklin Half Dollars minted at the Philadelphia Mint in 1955. The Franklin Silver Half Dollar series ran from 1948 through 1963. Franklin Silver Half Dollars weigh 12.50 grams and are comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (.3617 troy ounce of silver).
