We are pleased to offer for sale this Maine Centennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar (1920) in XF-40 or Better Condition.  This Maine Centennial Half Dollar was designed by Harry H. Cochrane and modeled by Anthony de Francisci. Congress authorized the Maine Centennial Silver Half Dollar on May 10, 1920 to be sold at the centennial celebration in Portland but the coins were received too late for the event and instead sold through the State Treasurer for many years.  There were only 50,028 of these Maine Centennial Commemorative Silver Half Dollar Coins minted at the Philadelphia Mint in 1920, making it of great worth and value to the commemorative coin collector.  The obverse of the Maine Centennial Commemorative Half Dollar features the arms of the State of Maine and the Latin word DIRIGO which means 'I Direct.  The reverse of the Maine Centennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar displays the words "MAINE CENTENNNIAL 1820-1920" centered in a wreath. The Maine Silver Coin is comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (90% Silver), has a diameter of 30.6mm, and weighs 12.5 grams.
