The reverse side of the Iowa State Quarter features a one-room schoolhouse with a teacher and students planting a tree, and the inscriptions Foundation in Education and Grant Wood. The reverse side of the Iowa State Quarter was designed by John Mercanti. All State Quarters are comprised of .750 copper and .250 nickel with a weight of 5.67 grams and a diameter of 24.3mm.
