The reverse side of the South Carolina State Quarter features the outline of the state and three symbols, a Palmetto tree, the Carolina Wren, the Yellow Jessamine, its nickname The Palmetto State, and a star which indicates the state's capital, Columbia. The reverse side of the South Carolina State Quarter was designed by Thomas D. Rodgers. All State Quarters are comprised of .750 copper and .250 nickel with a weight of 5.67 grams and a diameter of 24.3mm.
