Information on the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial One Cent Program:
In 2009, the US Mint will issue four different cent coins in recognition of the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln's birth. 2009 is also the 100th anniversary of the first issuance of the Lincoln cent. The reverse designs were unveiled at a ceremony held at the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. While the obverse will continue to bear the familiar likeness of President Lincoln currently on the penny, the reverse will reflect four different designs, each one representing a different aspect, or theme, of the life of President Lincoln. These designs are Abraham Lincoln's Birth and Early Childhood in Kentucky, Formative Years in Indiana, Professional Life in Illinois, and his Presidency in Washington D.C.
This 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Penny Complete Set is a great way to commemorate and honor Abraham Lincoln our 16th President who successfully led the US through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery.
